Patient Guides Help Your Patients Understand ASCO Clinical Practice Guidelines
Five new or updated ASCO Patient Guides, each based on recently approved ASCO Clinical Practice Guidelines, are now available for your patients. These Patient Guides discuss new ASCO recommendations and include a brief analysis of what the recommendations mean for patients, questions patients can ask their doctors, and a list of resources for additional information. Background information on the topic is also provided. - ASCO Patient Guide: White Blood Cell Growth Factors is an updated guideline that provides revised recommendations on the prophylactic and therapeutic use of hematopoietic colony stimulating factors.
- ASCO Patient Guide: Preventing and Treating Nausea and Vomiting Caused by Cancer Treatment is an updated guideline that provides recommendations on preventing and treating acute, delayed, and anticipatory emesis caused by chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
- ASCO Patient Guide: Preserving the Larynx During Cancer Treatment provides recommendations for strategies to preserve the larynx for patients with laryngeal cancer.

PLWC's "Ask the ASCO Expert" Schedule
|
|---|
ASCO members are encouraged to notify their patients about upcoming "Ask the ASCO Expert" online forums, which are hosted monthly on PLWC (www.plwc.org). These events give patients, families, and the public a unique opportunity to ask questions about cancer. PLWC forums are free of charge and anonymous, and preregistration is not required. Transcripts from all events are archived in PLWC's ASCO Resources section.
